Over £500 raised in Cardiff this week too : with love from Huw’s Granny

by huw15

While everyone was busy with 5 a side football and the karate tournament last weekend, Huw’s Granny was making final preparations for her tea / coffee afternoon which took place today on 21st June.  The weather obliged during the afternoon; she raised over £500 and they all had a good time doing something positive in Huw’s name.

With many thanks to Huw’s Granny (Mary Phillips) a further £500 will be added to the total of funds raised in the next few days.  When this is added to Crov’s karate funds, the total will be well over £12,000 🙂

Mary had a period of poor health in May, but bounced back in typical style to put on a great event today.  Thanks also to Huw’s Uncle Steve, Aunty Fran and cousin Alana for helping so much – and also to Babara Patrick and all the other friends who provided cakes and helped make the day a success for Mary and Huw.

Over 60 people attended the event which also featured a raffle with 20 prizes – the top prize was a pair of theatre tickets donated by Huw’s Uncle Rob and Aunty Carol.  The prize was won by an old friend of the family – Barbara Stokes.

This was a lovely contribution from another different group of people, and we would like to thank all the friends of Mary in Cardiff and at Radyr Church who have contributed over recent months, be it through donations or attending the event today.  It’s touching that people in Cardiff (which meant a lot to Huw through family and of course the Bluebirds) are doing so much to support Huw and the Trust.

Here are some nice photos.  It still seems wrong that Huw isn’t here to enjoy the cakes, but he’ll be looking down on us knowing that lots of people are doing truly wonderful things……..because we love him and always will x x x
