Karate Charity Challenge – Holme Valley Karate and Judo Academy

With many thanks Tony Sykes and all the young people from Holme Valley, Newsome and Wakefield who took part at the Holme Valley Karate and Judo Academy event on 16 December.

After the room hire and other costs, the event made a superb £464 which is a brilliant effort. It was great to see some of Huw and Carys friends there too – and some of them or their families taking part. Thank you too to everyone who made cakes and helped out, especially Tracey Hawley and Hayley Diamond.  Most of all though thanks to organiser Tony Sykes, who is a great guy.  Respect to Tony and all the brave and committed young people who made the event a really good and positive way to raise funds and remember Huw ♥♥♥

Huw (and Carys) went to karate classes with Tony for a few years when they were 8 or 9 – they enjoyed the classes and I am touched that Tony can remember them both from 8 or 9 years ago.

In what is becoming a a bit of a (appropriate) tradition at Huw events, there was a stall with fantastic home made cakes and refreshments which were made with so much effort and generosity – people are so kind and positive in many different ways.
