The Holmfirth High School non uniform day on Weds 16th Nov raised £1,000 to remember Huw ♥♥

Huw had so many happy times at Holmfirth High School and learnt a lot there as a person as well as from lessons.  A non uniform day was held at school on 16th November to remember Huw and it also raised £1,000 for Huw’s Trust to help brain injured people.  Thank you so much to everyone who took part and for their donations to take part in the non uniform day; it means a lot coming from a place where he was so happy.

Many of Huw’s friends wore Thatch 2 T shirts or Cardiff City shirts to rememer Huw.  His friends at school as well as his family miss Huw, Thatch, Big Man so much and will remember him with love forever xx  ♥♥

Kate and Lauren showed a lot of courage, commitment and love for Huw ♥ ♥

It takes a lot of courage when you’re 15 to stand up and talk to 5 assemblies in school about something that is very important to you and also very sad. And it takes commitment (and something else special) to bake over 200 cakes and to organise a cake sale for over twice that many – and make £500 for charity.  But that’s exactly what twin sisters Kate and Lauren have done this week in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire.

Anuschka Kruger successfully completes the Catterick Para 10 mile race on 11th September 2011

Anuschka Kruger completed the Para10 at Catterick on Sunday September 11th in one hour and 42 minutes.  For some reason she was a bit disappointed with the time!  As you can imagine it’s a really tough event and it’s a great achievement to finish it in whatever time.  Anuschka has raised £600 to be split evenly between Help for Heroes and Huw’s trust.  Here is a pic of her medal from last year.

Here’s some feedback from a good day cycling on 24th September

Here are some pics and some feedback from the cycling event organised by the Cullaighs on Saturday 24th Sept.  A good group turned up and they all had a really good day and raised some money for Huw’s trust.  Most of all it was something that the Cullaighs wanted to do to remember Huw in a positive way – thank you and well done everybody.

Here is some feedback on Andy Thompson’s & Liz Blezard’s successful completion of the Great North Run

Andy Thompson and Liz Blezard both finished the Great North Run on Sunday 18th September 2011.  Big Andy finished in 2 hours 8 minutes, just 18 months after breaking his leg and Liz finished in just over 2 hours (we’re not sure of the exact time yet.)  They were spurred on by Huw and both raised a lot for his Trust.  Congratulations on a great achievement to both of them.  Here’s a bit more info about their day along with links to some photos.

Coast to coast part 2: Huw was also in our hearts when we were laughing, enjoying the great company & getting spooked out in a weird village

As promised here is the eagerly awaited (I hope) Part 2 of the report back from the Coast to Coast cycle.  I hope Huw was laughing with us as we pushed ourselves, laughed, rested and messed about for 3 or 4 days.  Oh and there was a period where we were a bit mistifyed during our overnight stay on Saturday night!

An evening of hope with a common purpose as Brighouse Town edge the charity football match 2-1

Tonight’s match at Brighouse turned out just the way we hoped it would. It was an evening of hope – and with a clear common purpose of showing support for Huw and his Trust.  The support from our friends at Brighouse Town FC, the Holme Valley clubs and the three former Huddersfield Town players showed the local football community at its best.  The football was played in a great spirit and it was an entertaining game, edged 2-1 by a Brighouse Town side containing a large number of first team players from the Northern  Counties East League, Premier Division.
