Remembering Huw with lots of love on his 16th birthday
It was Huw’s 16th birthday on Friday 25th November. Huw loved his birthdays and this year it was a very important date for lots of his family and friends.
The Holmfirth High School non uniform day on Weds 16th Nov raised £1,000 to remember Huw ♥♥
Huw had so many happy times at Holmfirth High School and learnt a lot there as a person as well as from lessons. A non uniform day was held at school on 16th November to remember Huw and it also raised £1,000 for Huw’s Trust to help brain injured people. Thank you so much to everyone who took part and for their donations to take part in the non uniform day; it means a lot coming from a place where he was so happy.
Many of Huw’s friends wore Thatch 2 T shirts or Cardiff City shirts to rememer Huw. His friends at school as well as his family miss Huw, Thatch, Big Man so much and will remember him with love forever xx ♥♥
The Bowers: You had it all Huw: kind, caring, looks and a little bit of mischief we all loved you for
The Bowers family (parents Nige and Jules, son Will and his elder sister Charlotte) first met Huw when he and Will were 5 and they became great friends. Here are some lovely memories from all of them. Thank you for letting us put these on Huw’s web site 🙂
Kate and Lauren showed a lot of courage, commitment and love for Huw ♥ ♥
It takes a lot of courage when you’re 15 to stand up and talk to 5 assemblies in school about something that is very important to you and also very sad. And it takes commitment (and something else special) to bake over 200 cakes and to organise a cake sale for over twice that many – and make £500 for charity. But that’s exactly what twin sisters Kate and Lauren have done this week in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire.
Huw and Carys have won a ‘Yorkshire Children of Courage and Achievement’ award ♥
Huw and Carys were jointly awarded with the joint fundraiser and sports award at the ‘Yorkshire Children of Courage and Achievement Awards’ dinner at Harrogate on Thursday 28th October. Sam Bellas and Heather Smith were presented with the award as Carys was on school sports trip in Barcelona. Heather and Sam said they were ‘honoured’ to receive the award on behalf of Huw and Carys at a positive yet emotional evening.
Final day (Sunday) added to what Huw wrote in his diary of half term in October 2006 :)
Sunday 29thth October 2006 from Huw’s diary has now been added below.
As part of his school work in his last year at Upperthong Junior School, Huw had to write a diary of what he did in the October half term holiday. So we go back to October 2006, Huw was in year 6 and was nearly 11.
Huwie’s original spelling and grammar have been left 🙂
Memories of when Huw met the Welsh rugby team in 2010 as Wales prepare for the Rugby World Cup semi final
Huw’s Uncle Steve knows Jamie Roberts the Wales (and British Lions) Centre, and his family. On 13th February 2010 they got Huw, Cousin Doug and Nick tickets to see Wales vs Scotland at the Millenium Stadium and we watched the game with Jamie’s parents. Huw and Doug met the Welsh players afterwards 🙂
Talking to the Moon; I know you’re somewhere out there, somewhere far away
Two of Huw’s good friends performed ‘Talking to the Moon’ for Huw at the Picturedrome on 25th March 2011.
It’s such a meaningful song and was performed beautifully by Sam Bellas and Hayley Diamond. Huw loved Hayley and Sam.
Their performance on 25th March was recorded and you can listen to it here on YouTube.
Thanks Hayley and Sam ♥ ♥
